They reached shuttle bay 2, deck officers racing by transporting precious cargo into its necessary place,
"scofield, prepare the argo. the terrain on the planet surface is rough and not much landing ground for us"
Scofield replied,
"yes sir, it should be ready before we land"
they both climbed into the shuttle and prepare for launch, taking her into a steady hover whilst watching the bay doors ease open for their departure.
as they left the ship behind, serenity growing smaller and smaller. The abismal feeling that something werent quite right, still they stayed on their present course werey and alert.
as the planet surface aproached, the outside of the ship beginning to burn up as clouds and mountains appeared in the windows.
" scofield scan the surface for a suitable landing area close to the contacts coordinates"
the computer scanned a 5 mile radius and found a small crater that was flat enough to land and that could conceal the shuttle from danger.
" Settle her down here Scofield, we'll take the argo and make way to the village, ill make sure that the argo is equiped and ready to leave"
scofield as obediant as ever, settled her down with precision handling and shut it down.
"sir, ive got somthing on scanners"
Fletcher replied,
"where scofield?"
scofield replied in shock,
"North west, in mountains..........they've stopped"
Fletcher shouted at scofield,
" DUCK.....(lazer blasted by as fletcher saved scofield from instant death).....they're watching us"
they both crawled into the argo and drove away towards a thick forest. 30 minutes after the encounter with hostiles they found a hollow tree the size of a small hut and decide to accomodate it for the argo and set up camp for the night. Having been given disguises to blend in with the crowds of the village , they cunger up a plan they set to do in the morning.

Michael delicately landed the large bulky Argo class shuttle, while Captain Fletcher was prepping the Argo's land based vehicle. As he landed, he noted a small amount of movement to the north west of their current position, he informed Fletcher, who just in time flung him self toward Michael, knocking him over, he was about to ask why, but he didn't have to, as he noticed a tree, burnt to nothing but a cinder in a matter of seconds.
"A laser?" Michael esquired staying ducked.
"I believe so" came Cyclkus' reply.
I was decide that it would be wise to set up camp for the night, the sun was starting its final decent over the mountains, they made the Argo the center of the camp, using that for shelter, but it was a warm night, so the majority was spent collecting fire wood. At all times there was some one patrolling the perimeter, as they had informed the admiral at what they had been welcomed with, so he had sent a small team of Jen's marines, although Jenn didn't join them, after the previous away mission, he thought it to be best.
After his return for one of his scavenges, he sat with Fletcher next to the fire, the marines still patrolling the small crater, they almost seemed to be willing for the hostiles to return, so they could destroy them, as they inevitably would.
Both Schofield and Fletcher now sat next the camp fire, and began to talk about their past lives before joining starfleet.

"ah"
Fletcher said,
"I remember as kid, i used to want to be like my dad, a marine CO. i used to pretend that i was getting ambushed by klingons. i made a den in a tree and rushed up to it to grab my weapons, a stick and a few acorns posed as hand-grenades and a phaser rifle".
they both laughed, reminising their past times together. scofield begun to tell a story about his childhood and what he was like as a child growing up, then suddenly phaser rifles went off. Bright glares of light zipping every where, sparkes bursting and fragmenting.
Captain Fletcher looked at the argo and said,
"scofield, can you get the rapid fire weapon online?"
Scofield replied,
"i think so yes"
Fletcher having a brave but stupid idea gave the marines and scofield an order,
=^= marines, head back to the argo, make perimeter around the vehicle, ther vehicle will give you cover =^=
scofield shouted at fletcher,
"ONLINE!!! watch out"
Fletcher ducked and quickly skuttled across to the argos driving panel as scofield blasted unidentified targets. The argo revved alive, lights glowing,
=^= marines, your transports ready hurry!=^=

Suddenly the once dark endless night sky was enlightened by the yellowy Orange blasts.
"Schofield, can you get the rapid fire weapon online?"
Michael wasn't sure, they where pinned down by fire from the mountains, by the looks of things, it wasn't exactly going to be easy surviving as it was, even with a team of marines. "I think I can, yeah" he said, still unsure what the hell Cycklus had in mind.
=^= marines, head back to the Argo, make perimeter around the vehicle, the vehicle will give you cover =^=
Michael watched as the marines headed back to the Argo, and he followed. Although Michael thought the orders given where suicide, orders where orders, and he just hoped it would turn out right.
He climbed aboard the land based vehicle, which was now sat outside the shuttle, he powered up the rapid fire weapon, and shouted to Fletcher.
"ONLINE!!! watch out"
He saw Fletcher ducked and quickly scuttled across to the Argos driving panel, as Michael just kept firing at the unidentified targets, not knowing if he was hitting them or not. The Argo revved alive, lights glowing, and it lurched forward slightly as it was revved. "Marines, your transports ready hurry!"
The marines climbed aboard, and they began to head off toward the mountains, leaving the Argo shuttle behind. 'This is suicide' he thought to himself. He continued to fire, then without warning, the firing stopped, it was instead replaced, by the blood curdling screams of both men and women.
The quickly arrived, and found numerous people dead, the village looked battered, with the bodies of people lay, bloodied and lifeless. "What the..." but Schofield stopped there. The survivors came out of the scorched buildings, seemingly unharmed.
"The Borg?" he hear a marine ask.
"I think so" his friend replied.
They all stayed in the Argo for what seemed like for ever, the Borg had chosen to use them as a distraction, while the tactical teams where trying to deal with us, who they perceived as invaders at the time, Michael just hoped that they still trusted them.

John sat on the bridge, his hairs on the back of his neck stood on edge, although he didn't know it, he could feel somthing wasn't right, a gut feeling, somthing he rarely went with, but he felt at this particular moment, he had to.
=^= Serenity to Captain Fletcher, status report=^=
He sat, waiting for a reply, none came. He looked towards Ensign Baltimore, he was manning the operations as well as the helm, "Is there any reason they wouldn't be able to reply?" he asked.

"Is there any reason why they may not be able to reply" Admiral Roberts asked
"Not really sir i am detecting no signs interference" Jack replied "Maybe they are out of range, or they're in deep underground sir"
Jack was just as confused as the admiral by all accounts they should be replying, he detected no signs of the Borg. And there was no sign of radiation on the surface planet.
"Sir should we ready another shuttle?"

As the young officer spoke, John walked to wards the helm and sttod on his left hand side, waiting for him to offer some kind of explenation of why they where not establishing contact.
"NO!" he barked in reply, "I am not risking loosing more personnel unless I have to ensign" he added moments later.
There was a tension about the bridge again, "Ensign, keep attempting to contact the away team" He ordered.
(Baltimore)
John settled back into his chair, him self feeling nervouse like the rest of the bridge crew. With Jenn on leave for at least 24 hours, he didn't want to send another batch of marines down, he was starting to fear the worst.

"Aye sir" Jack replied and began feverously trying to figure out what was wrong, why they could not get contact with the away team.
"Serenity to away team" He repeated several times whilst trying different fequencies and trying to see if he could figure out if something was interfereing with the signal. "What is you status?"

Scofield stepped off the ground vehicle, and looked around the scene of devastation. Out the of thick choking smoke came a mans voice.
"It's all right" he said, pausing for a moment, "They are just the empty shells of what was once the bountiful Astarians, we live underground now." he finished his sentence.
"Wanna bet this is our man?" Michael quietly said to Fletcher, just as Scofield and Fletcher began to introduce themselves, they heard his voice once more. "I know who you are!"
Startled, they followed his beckoning, following him underground, walking through the bunkers where so many people slept, the rooms where they ate, a large community underground. Here they where, being welcomed into the heart of a broken civilization.
They entered a room, where they sat for several hours, talking, making agreements, but the Astarians accepted that Michael and Cyklus first needed the approval of Admiral Roberts, but where actually willing to play ball over the DNA sample, but stated only one thing they had to do in return, blow the Borg cube out of the sky, and keep vessels posted in this area.
"We cannot promise the posting of vessels in the area, neither can my CO" Cyklus said calmly, "But, I can assure you we will remove the Borg threat."
After this, the Astarian leader took them back to the surface, where they were contacted by the Serenity.
=^=What is you status?"=^=
=^= We may have a deal for the DNA, inform the Admiral, we will be back up within the hour=^=
The communication then ended, and the two officers climbed aboard the ground vehicle and set of back to the shuttle.

"Understood commander, serenity out"
The transmission then cut, and he retired to his ready room to inform starfleet of the news. He left the bridge in the hands of Solaris who by now was back on the active duty roster.
When he emerged again, he informed Cycklus who had returned in his absence on the bridge, that starfleet was sending a science ship to finish the mission, and that they had the go ahead to engage in hostilities with the borg once the vessel had arrived.

Having missed most of the action, Jenn was a little gutted. She was manning the tactical station while Scofield was busy giving his report to the admiral. The she noticed him leave the bridge, which she knew she would be left on the bridge for a good while.
"Sir, the USS Zeus is coming into the system now" She informed hm
"Understood, hail them!" he shouted back.
(RAdm Roberts)
She had expected to be allowed to blow the cube out of orbit, it was almost sad she wasn't, she supposed the admiral wanted to contact the Zeus to discover if they wanted to gain any more intel from the cube first, but she didnt think there was anything left worth retriving.

The bridge was flooded with the view of the Zeus' bridge from the view screen. The face of Captain Harrison taking most of the picture. All in a few moments, John raised from his seat, and began a short walk to the center of the bridge. Then, after the formal stuff, John filled the captain in on what had happend, and the current agreement with the Astarians.
"I would like your permission to keep to our end of the bargin and show that Resistance is not futile after all." John asked respectfully, he was, like the rest of the crew, unsure if they where to leave the cube to the Zeus to sort out.
"All I ask Admiral is that you send over the data you recived on the computer virus, after that, as far as I can see the Borg cube may as well be destroyed" she repplied.
"Understood, Serenity out" John quickly fired back, before the view screen was once more dead.
Turning to Scofield, "Have the data on the virus transmitted, wait until we are given the go ahead by the Zeus and then finish the Borg off" He then sunk back into the command chair, waiting for the go ahead then he and his crew could leave, and take a much needed break.

Scofields hands passed accross the computer terminal, sending the data securly so that the Borg couldn't use it if they intercepted it along the way. having sent it to the Zeus, Michael waited for some kind of message to inform them they got it.
"Sir, I would suggest contacting the Zues once more, I have sent them the virus information, and recved no reply" he asked the admiral.

John nodded in approval. Moments later, the face of captain Harrison glowed from the view screen.
"I trust you have received the virus information?" John said, almost asking.
"We have admiral, I believe we have all we need, no use for the Borg cube, I will leave you to do the honors" he replied
John again nodded, and the transmission was ended, "Scofield, destroy the Borg cube, full spread of quantum torpedoes" he ordered, then, a few moments later, the ship was rocked by the Borgs retalliation.
The bridge shook, as the final blow was struck to the borg cube, the view screen was on, and the senior crew shook watching the Borg cube, blow up, leaving noting more than shards of debris floating through space. "Damage report!" John barked.
"Hull breech through deck 6 to deck 9, hull breech from deck 12 to 13" Scofield continued to rattle off the damged caused by the Borgs desperate attepmts to survive, which had ultimately faild.
Contact the Zeus, inform them that once repairs are complete, we will be departing" he said toward Ensign Baltimore.
The hours passed slowly, dragging on, then the call finaly came that repairs had been made. Getting to his weary feet, John almost as if stumbling, took a few steps forward. "Mr Balitimore" he said pausing, "Take us home"
(Please post what ever final comments you wish to make, an interim mission will be placed on the shore leave thread, that will last approximately, 6 weeks)
